It 'been a month since the death of Alex Chilton, and the thought of posting something in his honor with me for days. Nothing obvious, however, nothing or STAR BIG BOX TOPS, nothing from his solo albums. I wanted something special for a special character.
Tough choice, but I decided to TAV FALCO'S PANTHER BURNS and, with a gem such as the 1980 sessions, recorded in the trials of SAM PHILLIPS. A great tribute to Chilton, at the time completely on the margins of the music business, lost between alcohol problems and assorted bad luck after the end of Big Star, with a job as a dishwasher at Memhis, having sailed to the top of the charts all over the world with the Box Tops.
To the delight of our battered ears, CHILTON found the stimulus for a few sporadic appearances and the discovery and production of the early Cramps. Tav Falco's friend, honored to have him on guitar in the formation of Panther Burns, the stood up and began a collaboration continued in later years.
These are the years ALEX CHILTON man I love.
